Black Friday cashback is the one Black Friday "deal" you can bank on: a percentage of what you spend comes back to you, whether or not the discount is real. The catch is that it only works if you set it up before the sales start and click through properly every time. This guide covers the dates, which cashback site to use, how to stop cashback going missing, and how to protect yourself when you pay.
Key takeaways
- Dates: Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November 2026, but many sales start earlier in November.
- Most deals aren't unique: Which? found 83% of products in the 2024 Black Friday sales were the same price or cheaper at least once outside the four-week sales period.
- Both big cashback sites are free to join. Quidco Premium costs £1 a month, only in months you use it. TopCashBack Plus costs £5 a year, taken from your cashback.
- Cashback is slow. Quidco says cashback normally tracks within 72 hours but the full process can take 3 to 6 months.
- Pay by credit card for items over £100 to get Section 75 protection on purchases up to £30,000.
When is Black Friday 2026 in the UK?
Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, and Cyber Monday is Monday 30 November, according to NationalWorld's 2026 date guide. In practice, big UK retailers now run "Black Friday" prices for a week or more beforehand, so the useful window is roughly mid-November to the end of the month.
That matters for cashback. Cashback sites often add boosted rates for a few days, and they change quickly. If you join a site the night before, you may miss early deals or hit a busy sign-up process. Join, verify your email and add your bank or PayPal details in early November.
Take Action: Put 27 November in your diary, and set up your cashback accounts at least two weeks before.
Are Black Friday deals actually cheaper?
Usually not, if you're willing to wait or watch prices. Consumer group Which? has tracked Black Friday prices for years, and its findings point the same way every time.
- Its study of Black Friday 2020 found 99.5% of 201 deals were the same price or cheaper at other times in the six months before or after (Which?, 23 November 2021).
- For Black Friday 2022, only 2% of 208 products (5 items) were cheapest on the day itself, and 98% were the same price or cheaper in the six months either side (Which?, 24 November 2023).
- For Black Friday 2024, 83% of 175 products at eight retailers were the same price or cheaper at least once outside the four-week sales period (Which?, 25 November 2025).

Which? changed its method between studies, so the fall to 83% isn't a like-for-like improvement. The message is the same: a "Black Friday price" is rarely the lowest price of the year. Retailers differ a lot, though. In the 2024 study, 94% of John Lewis deals and 88% of Amazon deals were matched or beaten at other times, compared with 55% at Richer Sounds.

Take Action: Only buy what you already planned to buy. Check the price history on a price tracker before you commit, and treat cashback as the guaranteed part of the saving.
How do cashback sites work on Black Friday?
Cashback sites earn a commission when you buy through their link, then pass most of it back to you. On Black Friday they work exactly as they do the rest of the year: you click through from the cashback site to the retailer, shop in the same browser session, and the purchase is tracked to your account.
- Log in to your cashback site and search for the retailer.
- Read the terms on the retailer page: rates differ for new and existing customers, some categories pay less, and some voucher codes can void cashback.
- Click through and complete the purchase in the same tab. Don't wander off to a price comparison site or a voucher site in between, as another site's link can replace the cashback tracking.
- Check it has tracked. Quidco says cashback "will automatically track to your Quidco account within 72 hours", though it can take longer.
- Wait for it to confirm. The retailer has to approve the sale after its returns window. Quidco says this process "normally can take between 3-6 months" (Quidco help centre).
If you return an item, expect the cashback on it to be declined. That's normal, not a fault.
Quidco vs TopCashBack: which is better for Black Friday?
Neither is always better, so the best approach is to join both and compare the rate for each retailer before you buy. They often list the same shop at different rates, and Black Friday boosts can flip which one is ahead for a few days.

Sources: Quidco Basic vs Premium (August 2026), TopCashBack and TopCashBack Plus, checked 24 October 2026.
Quidco may suit you if you shop in bursts. Premium's £1 fee is only taken in months you use it, so a heavy Black Friday month followed by a quiet January costs little. TopCashBack may suit you if you want quick, flexible withdrawals, and its Plus fee is waived if you earn less than £5 in the year. For a deeper look at fees and payouts, see our TopCashBack vs Quidco comparison.
Both sites run new-member and refer-a-friend bonuses that change often, and we couldn't confirm a current headline bonus for either on 24 October 2026. Check the sign-up page for any live offer and its terms. Quidco's refer-a-friend bonus, for example, is only paid once the new member has earned at least £5 cashback.
How to stop Black Friday cashback going missing
Most missing cashback comes down to tracking, and a few habits fix most of it. Busy sale days make tracking failures more likely, so it's worth being careful.
- Allow cookies for the retailer and pause ad blockers or privacy extensions while you shop.
- Start each purchase fresh from the cashback site, even if you're buying twice from the same shop.
- Don't use a voucher code unless the cashback site lists it or the terms allow it.
- Keep your order confirmation emails. You'll need them to raise a missing cashback claim.
- Check your account after a few days. Quidco's help centre suggests contacting support if a bonus hasn't tracked after 7 days.
Take Action: Make a simple list of what you buy, where, and which cashback site you used. It takes a minute and makes any claim much easier.
How to stack cashback with other Black Friday savings
You can usually combine a cashback site with your card's own rewards and, at some retailers, discounted gift cards. Each layer is small, but they add up on bigger purchases.
- Cashback site: the base layer, from Quidco or TopCashBack.
- Card rewards: a cashback or points credit card pays its own reward on top. See our guide to the best cashback credit cards, and only use credit you can clear in full.
- Gift card and round-up apps: some apps pay cashback when you buy a retailer gift card first. Our guide to stacking cashback apps explains which combinations work, and best cashback apps UK compares the main apps.
Paying by gift card can affect your protection, though, as the next section explains.
How to protect your Black Friday purchases
Your legal protections matter more than the discount if something goes wrong. Three rules are worth knowing before you click "buy".
Section 75 for credit card purchases over £100
Under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, your credit card provider is jointly liable if a single item costs over £100 and up to £30,000 and the retailer doesn't deliver or the goods are faulty. You don't need to pay the full amount on the card; a deposit on it covers the whole item (Experian). It doesn't usually cover purchases from third-party marketplace sellers, and it doesn't apply to debit cards. Debit card users can ask for a chargeback instead, but that's a card scheme rule, not a legal right.
The 14-day right to cancel online orders
The Consumer Contracts Regulations give you 14 days from the day you receive goods to cancel most online orders, then a further 14 days to send them back. The retailer must refund you, including basic delivery, within 14 days of getting the goods back or of you providing proof of return (Which?). Personalised items, perishable goods and unsealed hygiene products are exempt.
Buy now pay later is now regulated
Since 15 July 2026, buy now pay later lenders must be FCA authorised, check you can afford the repayments and give you clear information up front, and you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FCA, 11 February 2026). It's still borrowing, so spreading the cost of something you can't afford is a debt problem waiting to happen.

FAQ
Do cashback sites work on Black Friday?
Yes. Quidco and TopCashBack pay cashback on Black Friday purchases in the same way as the rest of the year, and often add boosted rates. You must click through from the cashback site before buying. Cashback is cancelled on returned items, and it can take several months to become payable after the retailer confirms the sale.
Is Quidco or TopCashBack better for Black Friday?
Neither always pays more. Rates vary by retailer and change during Black Friday week, so joining both and comparing before each purchase gets the best result. Quidco Premium costs £1 in months you use it, while TopCashBack Plus costs £5 a year from your cashback. Both free tiers work well for occasional shoppers.
How long does Black Friday cashback take to pay out?
Cashback usually tracks within a few days but takes much longer to pay. Quidco says purchases normally track within 72 hours and the full process can take 3 to 6 months, because retailers wait until their returns period ends before confirming.
Why hasn't my Black Friday cashback tracked?
The usual causes are blocked cookies, ad blockers, using a voucher code the retailer doesn't allow, or clicking another site's link before paying. Wait a few days, then raise a missing cashback claim through the cashback site with your order confirmation. Quidco suggests contacting support if a bonus hasn't tracked after 7 days.
Are Black Friday deals really worth it?
Some are, but most aren't unique. Which? found 83% of products in the 2024 Black Friday sales were the same price or cheaper at least once outside the four-week sales period. Only buy things you'd already planned to buy, check price history first, and count cashback as the guaranteed part of the saving.
Is it better to pay by credit card on Black Friday?
For items over £100, a credit card gives Section 75 protection on purchases up to £30,000, so the card provider shares liability if things go wrong. It only makes sense if you clear the balance in full. Debit cards don't have Section 75, but you can ask your bank for a chargeback.
The bottom line
Black Friday cashback is a small, reliable saving on top of discounts that are often less special than they look. Set up Quidco and TopCashBack in early November, compare rates before each purchase, click through every time, and pay by credit card for bigger items if you can clear the bill. Most of all, decide what you need before 27 November, not during it.
