Plus and Premium are Revolut's two cheapest paid plans, and they're £50 a year apart. That gap buys a lot more than you might expect. I've compared both using Revolut's Plus and Premium pages, checked today, to show what the extra money gets you and when Plus is the smarter choice.
Key takeaways
- Plus: £3.99 a month or £40 a year. It didn't change in October's price rise.
- Premium: £8.99 a month or £90 a year for new customers. Existing customers move from £7.99 on 19 December 2026.
- Exchange: Plus allows £3,000 a month, then 0.5%. Premium has no limit and no weekend fees.
- Premium doubles free ATM cash (£400 vs £200), pays 3.25% instead of 2.90% and earns 1 RevPoint per £4 instead of £10.
- Only Premium includes subscriptions, such as Uber One, Headspace and NordVPN.

What does the extra £50 a year get you?
Paying annually, Premium costs £50 more than Plus. For that, you get:
- No exchange limit and no weekend markups. Useful if you exchange more than £3,000 a month or often convert money at weekends.
- An extra £200 a month of free ATM cash. Worth it if you take cash out abroad regularly.
- 0.35 points more on savings. About £35 a year extra on £10,000.
- 2.5 times the RevPoints. On £1,000 a month of spending, 3,000 points a year instead of 1,200.
- The subscription bundle. Uber One (if you've never had it), Headspace, NordVPN Standard, Freeletics, Sleep Cycle Premium, Picsart Gold and Tinder Plus. Revolut changes partners from time to time, so check the app.
- More purchase protection. £2,500 a year instead of £1,000.
If you'd use just one of the subscriptions, it's likely to be worth more than the £50 difference on its own. Our Revolut Premium review goes through each one.
When is Plus the better choice?
Plus is the better choice if your only problem with the free plan is the £1,000 exchange limit, and you exchange between £1,000 and £3,000 a month. In that case, Premium's extras are money you won't use.
Typical examples:
- You pay a regular bill abroad, like rent or a phone contract, of a few hundred to a couple of thousand pounds a month
- You send money to family abroad each month
- You want purchase protection on gadgets but don't want subscriptions
Check which plan your monthly exchange points to:
- Currency you exchange in a typical month£3,500
If you're over £3,000 a month, Plus charges 0.5% on the excess. Exchanging £5,000 a month on Plus costs £10 a month in fees, which is £120 a year on top of the plan, so Premium is cheaper for you.
Take Action: Look at your exchange history in the app for the last three months, then use the calculator above.
When is Premium the better choice?
Premium is the better choice for most people who'd pay for a plan at all. It may suit you if you:
- Use Uber or Uber Eats and haven't had Uber One before
- Would use one or more of Headspace, NordVPN, Freeletics or the other apps
- Travel a few times a year and withdraw cash abroad
- Exchange more than £3,000 a month, or often exchange at weekends
- Want better RevPoints for airline miles

Did the price rise change the answer?
A little. Before October 2026, Premium cost £7.99 and the gap with Plus was £4 a month. Now it's £5 a month, because Premium went up by £1 and Plus stayed the same, according to DepositScout's analysis of Revolut's fees page. Premium's benefits didn't change.
Premium is still the better value for anyone who'd use its subscriptions. But if you were on Premium only for the exchange limit and you exchange less than £3,000 a month, the rise is a good prompt to consider Plus instead.
If you're an existing Premium customer
Your price rises on 19 December 2026. Paying monthly, you can ask in-app chat about moving to Plus before then. Premium is a 12-month plan, so a break fee may apply, although if you don't accept a notified price change, Revolut's Paid Plan Terms let you close your account free before it takes effect. A free downgrade is at Revolut's discretion.
The downsides of both plans
- 12-month commitment. Both Plus and Premium lock you in for a year. Paying annually is cheaper but means paying upfront.
- Neither includes travel insurance. That starts on Metal at £16.99 a month. See our Premium vs Metal comparison for the details.
- Perks can change. Revolut can swap partner subscriptions during your term.
- Investments carry risk. Capital at risk: the value of investments can go down as well as up.
FAQ
Is Revolut Plus or Premium better value?
Revolut Premium is better value for most people, because for £50 a year more than Plus it removes the exchange limit, doubles free ATM cash, raises the savings rate to 3.25% and adds subscriptions such as Uber One. Plus is better value only if you exchange £1,000 to £3,000 a month and want nothing else.
How much more is Revolut Premium than Plus?
Revolut Premium costs £8.99 a month against £3.99 for Plus, a difference of £5 a month. Paying annually, Premium is £90 and Plus is £40, so the gap is £50 a year. Existing Premium customers pay £7.99 until 19 December 2026.
Does Revolut Plus include subscriptions?
No. Revolut Plus doesn't include partner subscriptions such as Uber One, Headspace or NordVPN. These start on Premium. Plus does include purchase protection up to £1,000 a year, extended refund and ticket cover, a personalised card and priority chat support.
Can I switch from Revolut Plus to Premium?
Yes. You can upgrade from Plus to Premium at any time in the Revolut app, and Premium's limits apply from the date the change takes effect. Downgrading from Premium to Plus may involve a break fee if you pay monthly and are early in your 12-month term.
Does Revolut Plus have weekend exchange fees?
Revolut Plus can add a markup on currency exchange at weekends, when markets are closed, and charges 0.5% on exchange above £3,000 a month. Premium, Metal and Ultra have no exchange limit and no weekend fees, so they suit people who convert larger sums.
The bottom line
For most people choosing between the two, Premium is worth the extra £50 a year. The subscriptions, extra ATM cash and unlimited exchange add up quickly. Plus only makes sense if your sole need is a higher exchange limit of up to £3,000 a month.
