Revolut's free account is already one of the best spending cards in the UK. The paid plans are where it gets interesting, because the bundled subscriptions can be worth more than the plan costs, if you'd actually use them. I've gone through every plan's benefits from Revolut's own pages, checked today, so you can see exactly what each tier adds and which one pays for itself.

Key takeaways

  • Five plans: Standard £0, Plus £3.99, Premium £8.99, Metal £16.99 and Ultra £60 a month.
  • Premium is the best value for most people. It includes 12 subscriptions, among them Uber One (£49.99 a year on its own) and Headspace, and has no weekday exchange limit.
  • Metal adds travel insurance and 18 subscriptions that Revolut values at £2,200 a year.
  • RevPoints scale fast: 1 point per £10 on Standard, rising to 1 per £1 on Ultra. Points convert to British Airways Avios at 1:1.
  • Paid plans run for 12 months. Premium, Metal and Ultra are 12-month plans, so you're committing to at least £108, £204 or £720.

How much does each Revolut plan cost?

Revolut's UK plans range from free to £60 a month. These are the headline differences, from Revolut's plan comparison page:

Standard Plus Premium Metal Ultra
Monthly price £0 £3.99 £8.99 £16.99 £60
Free ATM withdrawals £200 or 5 a month £200 a month £400 a month £800 a month £2,000 a month
Weekday exchange limit £1,000 a month £3,000 a month Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited
Weekend exchange fee 1% 0.5% None None None
Savings rate (AER, variable) 2.9% 2.9% 3.25% 3.4% 4% (up to £200,000)
RevPoints 1 per £10 1 per £10 1 per £4 1 per £2 1 per £1
Commission-free trades 1 a month 3 a month 5 a month 10 a month 10 a month
Lounge access Pay per visit Pay per visit Discounted Discounted Unlimited

Above the free ATM limit, Revolut charges 2% on Premium and Metal. Savings rates are variable and can change at any time, so check the app before you move money.

Take Action: If you mainly want a good card for travel and everyday spending, start on Standard. You can upgrade inside the app at any time.

Revolut Standard: is the free plan enough?

For a lot of people, yes. Standard gives you a UK current account, a debit card, multi-currency accounts, budgeting tools and savings at 2.9% AER (variable), all for free.

The limits only bite if you travel or exchange a lot. You get £1,000 a month of weekday currency exchange at Revolut's rate, and a 1% fee applies at weekends, when markets are closed. ATM withdrawals are free up to £200 or 5 withdrawals a month. You also earn just 1 RevPoint per £10 spent, which is slow.

Who it suits: anyone who wants a second account for spending abroad, splitting bills or budgeting. Open one through our Revolut link. Any welcome reward that's currently running is shown in your invitation when you sign up.

Revolut Plus: who is it for?

Plus costs £3.99 a month and is the weakest upgrade. It triples your weekday exchange limit to £3,000, halves the weekend fee to 0.5%, adds two extra commission-free trades and gives you a personalised card.

It doesn't boost your savings rate or RevPoints, and it has none of the big partner subscriptions. Unless the £1,000 exchange cap genuinely gets in your way, skip Plus and either stay on Standard or go straight to Premium.

Is Revolut Premium worth it?

For most people who'd pay for a plan, Premium is the one to choose. At £8.99 a month (about £108 a year), the subscriptions alone can be worth more than the fee.

Revolut's Premium page lists 12 included subscriptions:

  • Uber One, with £0 delivery fees on eligible Uber Eats orders and Uber credits on rides (only if you've never had Uber One before)
  • ChatGPT Go for 6 months
  • Headspace, NordVPN Standard, Super Duolingo, Freeletics, Tinder Plus, Sleep Cycle Premium, Picsart Gold and Flo Premium
  • Lovable Lite for 12 months
  • Laundryheap, with £10 of credit a month

Uber One costs £49.99 a year if you buy it directly from Uber. If you'd use it plus one or two of the apps above, Premium has paid for itself before you count the banking benefits.

Those banking benefits are solid too. You get unlimited weekday currency exchange with no weekend fees, £400 a month of free ATM withdrawals, a 3.25% savings rate, and 1 RevPoint per £4, which is 2.5 times the free rate. Premium also adds purchase protection up to £2,500 a year, a 90-day refund window instead of 30 days, event ticket reimbursement up to £1,000 and 20% off international transfer fees.

The catch is the 12-month term. You're committing to around £108, so only upgrade if you'll use at least a couple of the perks.

Take Action: Add up the subscriptions you already pay for or would use. If they come to more than £9 a month, Premium is a clear win. I've worked through the Uber One numbers in detail in our guide to stacking Uber One, Avios and RevPoints on your commute.

Is Revolut Metal worth it?

Metal costs £16.99 a month (about £204 a year) and suits frequent travellers. Its biggest addition is travel insurance, which Premium doesn't include.

According to Revolut's Metal page, the cover includes medical emergencies, flight delays and lost luggage. There are conditions to know about:

  • Each trip can last up to 30 days and must start and end at your home.
  • At least 75% of your main transport and accommodation must be paid for with Revolut.
  • Pre-existing medical conditions are excluded, and cover ends at 76.

Metal also bumps you to 18 subscriptions, which Revolut values at £2,200 a year. The extras include the Financial Times (Standard Digital), The Athletic, MasterClass, ClassPass, WeWork, Chess.com and Tinder Gold. You get 1 RevPoint per £2, £800 of free ATM withdrawals a month, Fast Track passes at 100+ airports, 10 commission-free trades a month and 40% off international transfers.

Metal also gives you Uber One even if you've had it before, unlike Premium. That matters if you've already used up an Uber One free trial.

Who it suits: people who take several short trips a year and would otherwise buy annual travel insurance, or who'd use the FT or ClassPass. If you only travel once a year, Premium plus a standalone policy is usually cheaper. See my full Revolut Metal review for the break-even maths.

Is Revolut Ultra worth £60 a month?

Ultra costs £720 a year, so it only makes sense if you'd genuinely use its premium travel perks. The headline benefit is unlimited access to 1,600+ airport lounges, with food and drink included.

Revolut's Ultra page also lists:

  • Cancel For Any Reason cover, which refunds up to 70% of a cancelled trip or event, up to £2,500 per claim and £5,000 a year
  • 20 subscriptions worth £4,000 a year, including Financial Times Premium Digital and 20 ClassPass credits a month
  • 4% AER (variable) on savings up to £200,000
  • 1 RevPoint per £1, 10 times the free rate
  • 5GB of global mobile data a month, £2,000 of free ATM withdrawals and free international transfers

Ultra can make sense if you're in an airport lounge most months and spend heavily on the card. At £1,000 a month of spending, you'd earn 12,000 RevPoints a year, which converts to 12,000 Avios. For everyone else, Metal or Premium gives most of the value for a fraction of the cost.

Which Revolut plan should you choose?

The right plan depends on what you'd actually use, not on the headline value. Here's a quick guide:

If you... Plan that may suit you Annual cost
Want a free travel and spending card Standard £0
Exchange more than £1,000 a month but want no extras Plus About £48
Use Uber, Uber Eats or 2+ of the bundled apps Premium About £108
Take several trips a year and want insurance included Metal About £204
Use airport lounges often and spend heavily Ultra £720

A sensible approach is to start on Standard, use it for a month, then upgrade if you hit a limit or want a specific perk. Before you do, read the plan terms in the app, because the 12-month commitment and any early cancellation fees apply from the day you upgrade.

Is Revolut safe?

Yes, for money held in the bank. Revolut received its full UK banking licence in March 2026, and eligible deposits with Revolut Bank UK Ltd are now protected by the FSCS up to £120,000 per person, according to Revolut.

Savings held with partner banks have their own separate FSCS protection. Crypto, stocks and commodities are not FSCS protected, and Revolut says some older accounts are still being moved from e-money accounts (which are safeguarded rather than FSCS protected) in stages. You can check which entity holds your account in the app.

Investing also carries risk. Capital at risk: the value of investments can go down as well as up.

The downsides to know before you pay

Revolut's paid plans are good value, but they're not right for everyone:

  • 12-month terms. Premium, Metal and Ultra lock you in for a year.
  • Perks can change. Revolut can add or remove partner subscriptions, so don't pay for a plan just for one perk.
  • Conditions apply. Uber One needs you to pay with your Revolut card directly or Revolut Pay, not Apple Pay or Google Pay. Metal's travel insurance requires 75% of the trip to be booked with Revolut.
  • Customer service is app-based. Paid plans get 24/7 priority support, but there are no branches.

If you'd rather keep a simple budget, a free plan plus our UK Budget Planner will do more for your finances than any paid tier.

FAQ

What is the cheapest Revolut plan?

Revolut Standard is free and includes a UK current account, debit card, multi-currency accounts, savings at 2.9% AER (variable) and £1,000 of weekday currency exchange a month. The cheapest paid plan is Plus at £3.99 a month, which raises the exchange limit to £3,000 and halves weekend fees.

Does Revolut Premium include Uber One?

Yes. Revolut Premium includes Uber One in the UK, but only if you've never had an Uber One membership or free trial before. Metal and Ultra include Uber One whether or not you've had it before. You must pay for Uber with your Revolut card directly or Revolut Pay for it to work.

Can I cancel a Revolut paid plan?

Premium, Metal and Ultra are 12-month plans, so cancelling early may mean a cancellation fee. You can downgrade at the end of the term in the app. Check the terms shown in the app before upgrading, because they apply from the day you switch plans.

What are RevPoints worth?

RevPoints convert to British Airways Avios at 1:1. Avios are often valued at around 1p each, and potentially more on premium cabin flights. You can also use RevPoints for hotel discounts, such as 5,000 points for up to £100 off a stay. Standard earns 1 point per £10 spent and Ultra earns 1 per £1.

Is Revolut Metal better than Premium?

Metal is better if you'll use its travel insurance or extra subscriptions like the Financial Times and ClassPass, because it costs about £96 a year more than Premium. If you mainly want Uber One and the everyday apps, Premium gives most of the value for less.

The bottom line

Revolut's free plan is excellent on its own, and Premium is the upgrade most likely to pay for itself, mainly because of Uber One and the bundled apps. Metal is worth it for regular travellers who want insurance included, and Ultra is for heavy spenders who live in airport lounges.

If you haven't got a Revolut account yet, sign up to Revolut on the free plan, try it for a month and upgrade only once you know which perks you'll use. For more ideas on making your everyday spending work harder, see our guide to the best cashback apps.
